This project has been in progress for over 4 years. I wanted to build a car that was reasonably quick, but had all the creature comforts not usually associated with a classic performance car. The build features a 400 small block Chevy engine, a Tremec TKO 600 5 speed manual transmission and a performance built 8.5" GM Corporate rear end. It has 4 wheel disc brakes, power windows, power door locks, power trunk release, bucket seats and Autometer gauges mounted in the console. The exterior will remain virtually stock looking with Corvette style Rally wheels and BFG TA Radials.
Here are some photos of the day it came home. I answered an ad in the local paper and after a very brief price negotiation the previous owner had $600 and I had the start of my project. The 6 cylinder engine was apart and it is unknown if the transmission was in working order. The rear end was not strong enough to hold the power intended for the build, so basically I just wanted the body. This one was appealing for several reasons, first was the initial cost, second is the fact that there is no rust, there are no dents (just a few little dings) and the glass, trim and interior were all intact. The interior had been "refreshed" by the previous owner with, as best I
can tell, a can of red spray paint and some saddle blanket seat
covers. All of it had to go.
